You CAN teach your child to like healthy food. Here's how!

It may seem like children only like sweets and bland children's food (like chicken nuggets or grilled cheese), but these foods have only been around for a very short period of time. For the first 500,000 years of human existence, children never ate sweets or children's food. They ate what adults ate -- mostly wild plants and lean wild meats. And they learned to love them! All children learn to like the foods that are in their environment.

Teach your young children to like healthy food by:

1) Giving them a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains, meats, and dairy products.

2) Not feeding them sweetened or bland-tasting food (like candy or plain bread).

3) Modeling good healthy eating habits and being upbeat and positive at the dinner table.

4) Being patient. Learning to like healthy food can take years. Liking junk food happens instantaneously.
